Shanghai, China- Mahan Air celebrated the launch of scheduled flights from Tehran to Shanghai non-stop service linking the capital of Iran to the trade capital of people’s Republic of China and marking the carrier’s 17th international destination. It is also the airline’s first regular flight to China.
Mahan Air Managing Director Hamid Arabnejad led a delegation of the airline’s executives, Iran civil aviation senior officials and media from Iran on the inaugural flight from Tehran on this 9 hour non-stop journey to Shanghai. Welcoming remarks were provided by Ms. Zhang Qin Marketing Manager Shanghai International Airport. Dignitaries included Iran’s Ambassador to the China, His Excellency Mehdi Safari, Iran’s counselor General in Shanghai as well as senior Shanghai International Airport officials, media , a number of travel trade representatives and other invited guests from both Iran and China.
Addressing the gathering, Hossein Hosseini Mahan’s Director of Marketing and Route Development said : “On behalf of Mahan Air, I am delighted to see our aircraft now offering non-stop services to the great city of Shanghai and after more than two years of planning, we are finally on China’s soil. It is with great pride that we are able to offer the business and leisure communities of these two great cities – and cities within the China and the Middle East and beyond – with a great new direct flight”. The twice weekly flights are operating via 425 seat 747 in two class configuration offering superb Persian hospitality and as soon as relevant permissions are secured the frequency will be increased to 4 per week within the next six months.
